Shek Lin Wong Wan, age 87, departed for eternal rest on Saturday, September 5, 2020.

Shek Lin was born in 1933 in Bao An, Guangdong, China, where she grew up in a farming community. During her life, she survived the Japanese invasion of China during World War II. She and her husband, Shu Wan, subsequently relocated to Ping Chau, Hong Kong during the Chinese Civil War. Shek Lin was fiercely devoted to her family. During their time at Ping Chau she could regularly be found fishing for sea urchins, basket-weaving, or taking on any variety of tasks that helped bring a more bountiful life to her loved ones. Shek Lin, Shu, and their 5 children later immigrated to Boston, MA, U.S.A. in 1979.

Shek Lin was an avid gardener who loved all flowers and vegetation. A true Chinese mother and grandmother to the core, she knew how to cook countless numbers of Cantonese dishes. As her children, grandchildren, and all their friends may attest, the deliciousness of all her creations were inimitable. The secret ingredient? The magnanimous love she poured into all that she created.

Shek Lin is survived by her husband Shu Wan, her son, Ricky Wan; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judy Yip, Addy Tsang, Wayne Tsang, Winny Wan, and Kenny Chan; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Jessie Yip and Tedd Lee; and grandson, Alex Wan.

Shek Lin was a strong, determined, and passionately independent woman. She will be missed dearly by all of her loved ones.
