Chung Man Tam Obituary

On December 22, 2020, Joni (Chung Man) Tam, passed peacefully at her home in Braintree, Massachusetts, surrounded by her dear family.

A darling wife, mother, daughter, and sister, she is survived by: her loving husband and life-long partner - Ricky, her two doting daughters - Stephanie & Catie, her strong mother - Kwun Yee Tam, and her dearest siblings - Alice, Danny, and Lisa. There are countless others that will miss her as she was a caring, giving, and loving individual that touched so many lives.

She was a strong woman: raising two children while growing her career. Who can count the number of times she carried two sleepy and chubby kids up three flights of stairs after a long day of work? She made sure that everything that was ever needed for her husband or daughters was provided for. Her indulgence for her family was always within reason and with the goal of forging a stable life. For example, yes, we needed the 75” television but probably not the 90” one.

She was a kind and patient woman: always the first to buy thoughtful presents, remember an occasion, or the one to bring her family on vacation to ensure lifelong unforgettable experiences. Her patience was occasionally tested when trying to wrangle her family in a direction or to be on time for an event but she always took it in stride. She learned to give some people a slightly earlier start time. Cue the famous Joni eye roll.

She was a smart, sincere, and straightforward woman: forever planning the next big event, giving heartfelt compliments, and telling people the truth. She loved vacations and surprises; there were countless beach vacations, cruises, and parties that she organized. From trips to tropical paradises where she and her sister got burnt like lobsters to sweet 16s and surprise 50ths, she was the glue that held these things together. Her honesty made sure her family made wise decisions like not to wear too many floral patterns at once.

Her funeral service will be held on December 28th, 2020 from 9 am - 11 am at Wing Fook Funeral Home. All friends and family who wish to pay their respects are welcome to join. Please keep in mind that due to restrictions that only 10 people are allowed in the funeral home at a time. As such, please make sure to not linger too long in the funeral home to allow everyone a chance to share their love of such an amazing woman.

May we always remember her for the light she shone on our lives and may her light live on in us.
