Obituary of Kuang Ching Mei
Kuang Ching Mei, aka Ching Mei 梅光清 / 梅青
January 29, 1936 – April 14, 2025
Kuang Ching Mei was born on January 29, 1936, in Duanfen Model Village, located in Canton, China. He
graduated from the Hubei Art & Cultural Institute, earning a degree in Chinese Cultural Artistry, with a
particular focus on flowers and birds. Throughout his life, he dedicated himself to the arts and founded the
Plum Blossom Chinese Painting Academy in Quincy, MA, in 1995, where he not only displayed his
artwork but also taught those eager to learn about Chinese art. In 1997, he went on to establish the
Boston Chinese Art Institute and served as the President of the Boston Branch of the World Art & Cultural
Exchange Association. Additionally, he was a member of the Lexicographical Work Editorial Department
at China’s International Famous Person Research Institute, where his critiques were included in the Artist
Critique Directory. Ching Mei’s biography and art portfolio are featured in The International Art, and his
works have been exhibited in numerous international art shows. In recent years, he joined the Boston
Easy Learning Health Club and enjoyed the casual social engagement with members and learned about
healthy living.
He did not only love painting, calligraphy and sketching, he was an all-around home fixer, carpenter and
gardener. He found clever ways to fit everything neatly together. He designed the structure of his home in
China and made his home in the US a warm and safe place. He embraced many roles in his life: a son,
student, artist, chef, teacher, and father. He held a deep appreciation for everyone’s artistic expressions
and believed that continuous learning, observation, practice, and sharing were essential for his own
growth and the nurturing of future artists.
In retirement, he continued painting, exploring, and spreading his passion for Chinese art. He frequently
enjoyed leisurely strolls without carrying anything. While he admired all forms of beauty, his heart was
particularly drawn to a non-complicated life. Come as you are, leave as you come.
Mr. Mei is survived by wife, Chung Y. Mei; son, Jeffrey K. Mei and daughter, Winna Y. Mei.

梅光清 於1936 年 1 月 29 日出生於中國廣東端芬模範村。他畢業於湖北藝術文化學院、獲得中國文化藝術
學位、專注於花鳥畫。他一生致力於藝術、並於 1995 年在馬薩諸塞州昆西市創辦了梅花中國畫院、在那裡
他不僅展示自己的藝術作品、還教授那些渴望了解中國藝術的人。 1997年創辦波士頓中國藝術研究院、並
擔任世界藝術文化交流協會波士頓分會會長。此外、他也曾任中國國際名人研究所辭書編輯部委員、其評
論收錄於《藝術家評論名錄》。 《國際藝術》雜誌刊登了梅清的傳記和藝術作品集、他的作品也曾在許多
國際藝術展中展出。 近年來，他加入了波士頓易學养生社學習健康，享受與會員輕鬆的社交，學習健康生
活。
他不僅熱愛繪畫、書法和素描，他還是一位全能的家居修繕工、木匠和花匠。他找到了巧妙的方法將所有
東西巧妙地組合在一起。 他設計了自己在中國的家的結構，使自己在美國的家成為一個溫暖、安全的地方
。 他在一生中扮演過許多角色：兒子、學生、藝術家、廚師、老師和父親。他對每個人的藝術表達都深表
讚賞，並認為不斷學習、觀察、實踐和分享對於他自己的成長和培養未來藝術家至關重要。
退休後、他繼續繪畫、探索並傳播他對中國藝術的熱情。他經常享受悠閒地散步、什麼都不帶。他欣賞一
切美的事物、但對一手青風卻情有獨鍾。 來青風、去飄飄。
他身后留下了妻子李仲英、儿子梅徑、和女儿梅影。
