Jimmy K. Chin, 76, of Brookline passed away on August 5 th , 2025, after a valiant battle
with heart disease. He lived his life and loved others to the fullest, especially after his
diagnosis. While under the tremendous care of his medical team at the Boston Medical
Center, Jimmy passed away peacefully while surrounded by his loving family.
Jimmy was born in Hong Kong. He immigrated to the United States at the age of six,
and worked with his father in their small family-owned business in the South End of
Boston. He graduated from Boston English High School and enrolled in college classes
at Boston State College. During this time, he met, fell in love with, and eventually
married his next-door neighbor, Regina.
Jimmy was retired, but during his younger days, managed to work two jobs to support
his family. He was an insurance inspector for the Insurance Services Office, while also
working as a restaurant server at the Sheraton Boston. He especially enjoyed working
as a server, which led to his family affectionately referring to this as his “fun” job.
Jimmy will be remembered for his kindness and for always putting others’ wants and
needs before his own. He cherished the relationships that he built throughout his full,
bountiful life. Some of his favorite activities were traveling with his wife, dining with loved
ones, socializing with friends and neighbors, making acquaintances everywhere he
went, and cooking delicious meals. As a proud US citizen, he passionately fulfilled his
civic duty of voting in every election. Additionally, he selflessly volunteered to help
others by routinely donating blood to the American Red Cross.
He is survived by Regina, his wife of fifty-five years, his daughter, Michelle (Arnold), of
New York, his son, Eric (Jody) of Indiana, and his grandchildren Alex, Abby, Mei and
Adam. He is also survived by many relatives, including sister So Yet of Hong Kong,
nephew Ernie (Anita) of Massachusetts, and nieces Christine (Damien) and Cherie
(Frank), both of California. He was preceded in death by his parents and Regina’s
mother, with whom he graciously shared his home.
A celebration of life is planned for Jimmy at the Wing Fook Funeral home in Boston on
August 15 th , 2025 at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Boston Medical Center,
