Thomas Gia Wong Obituary

Thomas G. Wong, 96, of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on September 22,

2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of the late Be On Wong,

and a beloved father and grandfather.

Born in 1929 in Saigon, Vietnam, Thomas worked for many years as a jewelry store manager.

Together with Be, he found the courage to lead his mother and their family of seven on a

dangerous journey by boat to escape Vietnam. Their bravery and sacrifice opened the door to

freedom and a brighter future for their five children.

After settling his family in the United States, Thomas served for more than 17 years as an

educator at Josiah Quincy Elementary School in Boston, where he inspired generations of

students with his patience, kindness, and love of learning.

A man of many interests, Thomas found joy in reading Chinese poetry and literature, savoring

the beauty of language and tradition. He had a deep appreciation for music and high-fidelity

sound. His love of world history and travel took him to many countries, where he delighted in

exploring local cultures and cuisines—memories he and Be treasured together.

He is survived by his son William and Mei Wong, and their children Brittany and Vivian; son

Ellis and Vicki Wong, and their child Rachel; son Raymond and Lai Hung Wong, and his

children Tiffany (and grandson-in-law Evans) and Nathan; son Philip Wong; and daughter

Fanny and Brad Lee, and their children Jasmine and Nicholas. His legacy lives on through

them, and through the values of courage, love, and family that he instilled in all.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Wing Fook

Funeral Home, 13 Gerard St, Boston, followed by interment at Central Cemetery in Randolph.

Flowers and condolences may be sent through Passion Bouquet at (617) 426-5529
