George K. Moy, 94, of Brookline, MA, passed away on December 3, 2025. Born on April
11, 1931, in Duanfen, a town in Taishan in the Guangdong province of China, the
youngest of 10 children to his parents, Gung Ming Moy and Choi Sau Fung. He was a
devoted husband to his wife Alice, and a loving father to daughter Lillian and son Tony.
George was hard-working and dedicated. He spent a dozen years working as a waiter
at various Chinese-American restaurants, from Montreal to Needham and Chestnut Hill,
MA. He then opened a small retail store, a gift shop named Peking Oriental Imports, on
Route 9 in Brookline in 1972. The following year the business moved to Newbury Street
in Boston, where he, Alice and his brother Stephen worked nearly every day year-round
for over 22 years. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family
and his greatest hobby: photography.
Starting photography at a young age, George won numerous national and international
awards starting in the 1960s and into the 2000s. His love for photography led him to
opening the Chinese-American Fine Arts Society with his friends in Boston’s Chinatown.
They showcased everything from calligraphy to photography. His passion motivated him
at the age of 80 to publish a book of his lifetime work, which was one of his favorite
personal achievements.
A man of integrity and generosity, George left a lasting impact on everyone who knew
him. He was full of stories and jokes and always made the room laugh.
George is survived by his wife Alice; his daughter Lillian and her sons, Nathan and
Evan; and his son Tony and his wife, Ada, and their children Julianne and Camden. He
is also survived by extended family members and many friends, who will miss him
dearly.
Services will be held on Monday, December 15th, from 9-11am, at Wing Fook Funeral
Home in Boston, followed by services at noon at Walnut Hill Cemetery in Brookline, MA.
The family invites guests to attend lunch after the services at Joyful Garden Restaurant
in Watertown, MA.
