Our beloved mother, May Ching Ngor Moy Chan, was a strong, intelligent, independent and generous person.  She was born in Toisan, Canton, China.  She was a sharp thinker and leader despite knowing very little English.  She earned her place as the first woman chef in Chinatown, in a profession that is exclusively male.  Her skills and leadership brought our restaurant, Ho Yuen Ting, to its peak and earned Best of Boston awards.  She is known by many in the Chinese community as “Big Sister” 大家姐. 

May is reuniting with her late husband, Steve Kwok Cheung Chan.  She leaves her loving children, William and Cyndi.  She is survived by her late sister Michelle Wong’s family, brother Ricky Moy and family, brother Raymond Moy and family, brother Jimmy Moy and family, and devoted youngest sister Ann Moy.  Her family from the Chan side include her late brother-in-law Kwok Ning Chan and his wife, Liu Zhang, and nephews Zi Qui Chen and family, Zi Kang Chen and family, Zi Ye Chen and family, and niece Yu Juan Chen and family. 

Friends and relatives are invited to a mercy luncheon at China Pearl Quincy after the interment.
