James Fong Yee

March 28, 1949 - February 29, 2024

James Fong Yee, 74, passed away on February 29, 2024, surrounded by his loving

family. He was born on March 28, 1949 in Boston, MA, to Boo Sin and Anita Yee. He

was a graduate of Boston Latin High School and Bentley University.

James, known to all his friends as Fong, was a pillar of strength for his family and a

source of inspiration for all who knew him. Though often reserved, Fong had an innate

ability to light up any room with his warm smile and tranquil presence.

Throughout his life, Fong was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his

profession as a restaurant owner. He approached everything with diligence and integrity,

earning the respect and admiration of family and friends.

Fong had a passion for volleyball and bowling in his youth which was replaced by all

things golf in his retirement years. He was often found on the greens, enjoying the

game he loved. He also had a deep appreciation for Boston sports of all kinds, relishing

the camaraderie and excitement they brought. But to his family, he is best remembered

for the delicious food he makes for the family dinners he often hosts with his wife.

Fong is survived by his childhood sweetheart of over 54 years, Gwendolyn Yee, his son

Bryant Yee and daughter-in-law, Christina Yee, his daughter Pamela Yee Wong and

son-in-law, Vincent Wong. He was the loving grandfather, “YehYeh”, to Dylan Yee and

Connor Yee. Fong is also survived by his younger sister, Mary Ann Yee and his

brother-in-law, William Wong as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

A wake to honor and celebrate Fong’s life will be held on Thursday, March 7th, 5pm -

8pm at Wing Fook Funeral Home, 13 Gerard Street, Boston, MA 02119.

Final visitation will be on Friday, March 8th, 9am - 10:30am. Procession will begin at

11am from Wing Fook Funeral Home and convene for interment at Forest Hills

Cemetery, 95 Forest Hills Ave, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130.
